Excelling in the face of Adversity

As an ITU graduate from the class of 2021, my journey at the University was initially daunting as I encountered something of a culture shock. Surrounded by students from all corners of the country, many of whom were academic toppers in their respective cities, I felt out of place and struggled to establish connections. However, I eventually found my community among middle-class individuals who, like me, sought a balance between enjoying life and being serious about their future.

While facing the challenges of university life, health issues also presented a significant setback when I had to cope with viral Hepatitis, leading to nearly an entire semester of sitting out. As a result, my grades suffered, but upon a full recovery, I returned to the academic arena more determined than ever to succeed. My dedication is evident in my improved performance, as I emerged as one of the top-performing students in the latter half of my degree.

Not shying away from hard work, I embraced a rigorous academic approach, opting to take as many technical subjects as possible and achieving exceptional grades in all of them. Notably, during the final two years of my degree, I even ventured into Masters level courses that intrigued me, demonstrating my passion for learning and my ability to excel in advanced subjects.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead to the future, the recent surge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) has underscored the necessity for CS professionals to possess practical knowledge of AI applications. To truly harness the potential of these groundbreaking technologies, understanding the intricate inner workings of AI systems is paramount. Despite the limited availability of resources shedding light on this domain, I am committed to overcoming this challenge through dedicated research and engaging in valuable discourse. As such, my future ambition revolves around pursuing a Master's degree in an advanced CS subject, with a particular focus on AI or Data Science. By immersing myself in this cutting-edge field, I aim to equip myself with comprehensive expertise in AI concepts, such as Generative Neural Networks (GNNs) and Large Language Models (LLMs), and pave the way for innovation in this transformative domain. This aspiration drives my determination to excel in AI and Data Science, empowering me to contribute meaningfully to the advancement of intelligent systems and making a positive impact on the world of computer science.
